Ryan's Science Class Notes

Science has been off to a great start so far, we have been reviewing classroom rules, laboratory safety, and working with some of the equipment we will be using throughout the year. We have started off with some different experiments using the scientific method; one experiment was to create a 30% solution of seawater and the other was to see if sterilized equipment benefits algae growth.

This year’s project focuses on how environmental variables in both marine and terrestrial environments have an effect on biodiversity and species abundance. We will be using tools to test these environmental variables which include temperature, pH, salinity, and dissolved oxygen as well iNaturalist which will be used to identify different species and ArcGIS to analyze the data we collect.
