Tohanash and Javis' Class Notes

Throughout December, our classroom has been full of learning, creativity, and excitement. We explored the world of Shakespeare and our story The Twelfth Night, through engaging activities that encouraged collaboration. A few of our favorites were singing head, shoulders, knees and toes and going on a magical journey to touch the stars. We also created our own movements to our song and practiced each morning with our dedicated Shakespeare crew; this continues to help students enjoy classic literature in a fun and age-appropriate way, while expanding listening skills, imagination, and a love for storytelling.

When we aren't exploring Shakespeare's world, Jan Brett stories showing weather we are experiencing have caught our attention, and expanded on our ideas during outdoor adventures. In science, students had lots of hands-on fun experimenting with our first snow of the year. In the garden, we are continuing to learn how to care for plants, noticing seasonal changes, and working together to create our farmers market. Our gym classes with Barry have continued to be a highlight keeping everyone active and energized. Alongside these specials, students continue to show great dedication to their daily learning goals. We worked hard on spelling our names and building confidence in recognizing and writing letters. Through our morning meetings, class discussions, songs, and hands-on activities, students made strong progress in learning letters and letter sounds. December was a month of growth and effort. We took a staycation during Spa Day celebrating our acts of kindness. Lastly, performing in front of a packed auditorium is no small feat (even for adults!). We are truly proud of our accomplishments and grateful for the support of our families in making it happen. Have a safe and very Happy Holidays!
