Lucy’s Class Notes

After reimagining and writing their own myths, students transformed the classroom ceiling into a shared galaxy inspired by their stories. They analyzed the ceiling space and planned the placement of constellations, planets, moons, and other celestial elements from their myths. The process began with sketching the design, then assigning roles and creating a schedule to ensure a smooth workflow.

Throughout the month, students learned safety procedures for operating a scaffold and collaborated while painting their sections of the ceiling. Each partnership added creative flair , making the galaxy reflect everyone’s perspective. When not on the scaffold, students designed 3D elements such as planets, moons, spaceships, and mythical creatures that will hang from the ceiling to add depth. We have a few more steps, but we’re proud of our progress. Students are also eagerly collaborating with Shakespeare directors to rehearse and perform Twelfth Night. It’s been a joy to see them work with peers and confidently embody Shakespearean characters.
