Liz's Class Notes

We are busy learning about musician, artist, and civil rights activist Max Roach for our presentation on Soul Food Night. The kids are learning that Max Roach took the drums to a whole new level as a solo instrument. He was also an activist, composing music about civil rights. His album "We Insist" was banned in South Africa. The kids will present a performance of their research at Soul Food Night.

This year's Senior Learner Projects are Food Photography, Making a Film, Large-scale Painting, Drone Photography, Food from the Legends of Zelda, A History of Basketball, A Study of Horses, Animation, Animal Communication, Making the Perfect Hamburger, Character Invention and Cosplay Creation, Poetry and Painting, and A Study of Neurodiversity. As with all creative endeavors at Hayground, the topics as interesting as the kids. The Senior Learners are busy working in the classroom and will meet with their mentors each week to discuss their work and learning and receive guidance about how to proceed with their endeavors.
