Sakiko and R.J.s Class Notes

The end of the year is wrapping up nicely! We completed our Budding Author books and had a really nice celebration at the Bridgehampton School with an author who shared some of her writing techniques.

Last week we worked with Louisa’s mother who brought in materials for the students to create a mandala in celebration of Earth Day - along with the students of Tohanash and Javis‘ class.

We have continued our practice of daily journal writing, sometimes with prompts, and other times students write whatever is on their mind.

We will continue in the swing of working with our reading buddies, the Senior Learners, on next Wednesday morning. We’ve also spent plenty of time with books in our room reading quietly alone, with a friend or alongside a teacher.

One of the students in our class proposed the idea of doing a student art gallery, and we said yes! Students will display a work on canvas, alongside their portrait where they have decorated in the coming days.

Students are also working on our culminating newsletter which will feature work by each student. Lookout for that in the coming week! Students are looking forward to displaying their work at our Spring Festival.

Lastly, we have been practicing a children’s tale titled, “Momotaro” along with students in Tohanash and Javis’ class.
