Ryan's Class Notes

Spring has finally sprung, and with that we have been hitting the ground running! Over the past few weeks we had some exciting trips and presentations. Kate Soroka, a local “Rock Hounder” gave an excellent presentation to the students about some of the rocks she has collected all across the country and some even in our own backyard. Kate will be returning to Hayground to conduct two local field trips with us, one will be sifting through the dirt that was excavated from the building construction site and the other will be a field trip to the beach to identify/collect rocks. We had a fun and exciting time learning about seals and other wildlife aboard the R/V Peconic which was hosted by Stony Brook University.

We will have two upcoming cruises with them, one will be a bay exploration and the other will be an ocean exploration! Please make sure to come visit the classroom during our Spring Festival to see all the exciting work that the students have been working on throughout the year!
