Tohanash and Javis's Class Notes
We had such a joyful and eventful month of April in our classroom. Throughout the month, we spent time learning about Earth Day and had many meaningful conversations about how we can take care of our planet. Our story study continued with a visit from Zuzzana and her father. She shared a Polish folktale and Spring tradition of cleansing with water.
One highlight of the month was our gathering from the Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center. The students were fascinated as they learned about Cloud the red tailed hawk, Vlad the turkey vulture and Henry Hunter the screech owl. They learned how injured animals are cared for and safely returned to their natural habitats. We also took full advantage of the many sunny, warm spring days by spending extra time outdoors. Whether we were playing, exploring, or simply enjoying the fresh air, these moments brought lots of joy and energy to our classroom. On May 13th we will host a special Children’s Day Gathering at 2:30pm along with Sakiko and RJ’s class to perform a song from Momotoro, a Japanese children's book.
Picture day was a big success. The children did an excellent job getting ready, being patient, and sharing their bright smiles. Another highlight this month was having our book buddies visit and read with us. The children truly looked forward to this time, enjoying the chance to share stories, build confidence in their reading, and connect with their buddies.
It has been a month full of learning, laughter, sunshine, and special moments that we will continue on with until June!
