MARYBETH and RJ'S CLASS NOTES

The first day of fall blew in cool and crisp, just as it should be. We honored the transition with a read- ing of Georgia Heard’s poem, Recipe For Writing An Autumn Poem. Inspired by her whimsical prose, we wrote our own version, which we will share at an all school gathering this coming Wednesday.

It’s hard to believe that we only just completed our first full week of school, as we have already cov- ered so much ground. New friendships are forming, and old friendships have solidified. Routines are falling into place, and with them a sense of classroom identity and community. The children have cre- ated a set of thoughtful class rules and boundaries, and have brain stormed a list of class jobs, including “Class Reporter”, which is a first for us and will be defined by the kids - stay tuned. Masterful block buildings, first attempts at creative writing, inspired art, wonderful read alouds, the construction of a playhouse, lots of games, and our first birthday celebration are among the highlights.

Please mark your calendars for Tuesday, October 5, at 6:00 pm, at which time you are invited to join us in the classroom to learn more about our plans for the year, and ways to help out.
