Marybeth and Helene's Class Notes

In the past few weeks, our local Sea Change experts have been making a splash in the classroom! We were excited and delighted to welcome several new and existing Hayground community members into our room to share their stories!

Each of our guests presented a glimpse into their life experiences and how they related to our year-long study of “sea change". Classroom photographers and note-takers documented the conversations for our collaborative book of interviews that will be published at the end of the year.

The kids were riveted by stories from Bob Miller about his adventures in the ocean including harrowing tales of his time rescuing refugees in the waters of the Aegean Sea.

Paul Gartside, Teddy and Nettie's dad, shared his lifelong affinity for sailing as well as his passion for boat building.

Jason Norris, dad to Pearl in Erin and Kevin's class, regaled us with tales about his time on the open sea fishing on boats out of Montauk, NY.

The artists in the room were all eyes when Scott Bluedorn stopped in to share his drawings and prints and the inspiration behind his work.

A second round of guests is slated to join us after the vacation. Have a wonderful Spring Break!
