Marybeth and Helene's Class Notes

March has certainly come in like a lion this year! We've been enjoying the end of a snowy winter at Hayground. The playground has been covered in the fluffy white stuff making it perfect for snowman building, fort construction and of course, snowball fights.

Last week's nor'easter couldn't deter us from presenting the unveiling of The Lost Journals of Captain William Kidd. Despite the nasty weather, the show went on! Following a pirate-y pizza party, the children performed a live reading of The Lost Journals with their large scrolling paintings setting the scenes.

This month's visit to Circle Beach was a blustery one. The kids' paintings of gray skies and choppy water perfectly capture the day. We reflected on our visit and wondered if next month it will feel like spring at the bay.

The kids have begun building the Lost City of Atlantis. We discussed the diverse depictions of Atlantis and what our own creations might resemble. Gold, silver and blue structures abound in the initial stages of construction.
