LIZ'S SENIOR LEARNERS

We had some great weather for our first three days! In addition to getting to know one another while playing games in class, on the playground, and in the gym, we enjoyed a team-building game; took on a papercutting challenge; hawent to the library and met with the librarians; began our read-aloud, learned about and analyzed infographics; recorded sunrise and sunset on a graph on our wall; began a documentary about The Shinnecock Tribe; created pie charts and bar graphs while learning how to use Excel; and read and analyzed a wonderful essay by Sherman Alexi.

On Monday, we're heading out to apprentice with Mila McKey at the oyster hatchery on the Shin- necock Reservation. We have much to learn from Mila, who is as terrific with kids as he is knowl- edgeable about oysters and the natural world. This week, we'll begin math, cooking, gardening, art, and gym.
