Lucy’s Class Notes

This past month, our class has been fully immersed in our Fall Realm: Mythical Galaxy unit! Students began by exploring the universe as we understand it today, studying galaxies, constellations, and the fascinating myths that have been told about them throughout history. Building on this knowledge, students then created their own mythical creatures inspired by constellations and the night sky. They are now developing original myths that connect their creatures to our Fall Realm, weaving together creativity, storytelling, and imagination.

In addition to our in-class work, we had the incredible opportunity to visit Guild Hall and the Watermill Center , where students explored real museum archives and gained a deeper understanding of typography, iconology, and the art of curation. From hands-on projects like making Shrinky Dinks to studying how exhibits tell stories, our students learned what it takes to bring an artistic vision to life. We are so excited to see their ideas come together as we begin brainstorming and creating our first classroom realm installation in the coming weeks!
