“A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” –William Shakespeare

One of the aspects of our work with Shakespeare & Company that I love more is the bringing of a communal synergy to all of us at Hayground School.

Children and adults of literally all ages are working together to practice lines, coordinate scenes, and just plain have fun! So much is happening that can’t be seen. Children are gaining confidence, finding their stage voices, and learning how to work together to bring an amazing production of Romeo and Juliet to Hayground School.

Children brought home their lines on Friday, and it is clear that they are into it and excited, as most returned Monday already with a good grasp of lines. Reading and practicing Shakespeare lines is an appropriate activity for reading log time! As a reminder, reading logs are due each Monday. Children should be reading with a grownup 4-5 times per week. — December 4th, 2023
