Julie's Class Notes

Every day I am more impressed with the students’ investment in our class endeavor; The Hayground Market. Our second sale featured seasonal products, like eco-printed tea towels, natural inks, relaxing candles, and wish pillows, among other carefully made items. The children sewed, learned about acidity, and how you can alter the color of dyes, researched the herbs and plants that grow in our garden, made wreaths, budgeted, designed and planned so we could have a successful sale. And we did!

They interacted with customers, spoke eloquently about our products and their uses, made change and ran our booth at the Holiday Bazaar, in large part, on their own. It was a pleasure to see them take pride in their hard work, and to see all of the happy faces on the customers who bought ALMOST EVERYTHING WE MADE!

The kids deserve a long break. Alas, they have two more weeks of hard, yet enjoyable work, as they memorize lines and rehearse their parts for Romeo and Juliet. Rehearsals are already so much fun, I can’t wait for the show! Thank you all for all of your help and support in making this fall truly memorable and special.
