Tohanash and Lora’s Class Notes
April has been a busy month for our class. We began the month working with Scott and Oscar making personal pizzas for class lunch and we ended it in the kitchen making special rainbow sugar cookies to share with the whole school. It was fun to see where the big kids help make our daily lunch.
With the weather turning warmer our focus has been on birds and nesting. We hunted for nesting materials with our book buddies and felted eggs for our own nests. We have a great view of the new osprey nest built by our Hayground community. Although there is no permanent resident yet, we have seen small birds, crows and even two ospreys stopping by. Literacy skills continue to sharpen as we learn new poems. We learned an ode to spring and took time to reflect on how poems make us feel.
Our read alouds have been a highlight of our day. A few favorites have been “The Gruffalo” by Julia Donaldson, “Buffalo Fluffalo” by Bess Kalb and Erin Kraan and “Friends” by Eric Carle. — May 3, 2025
