Kitchen Class Notes
This month in Jeff’s Kitchen, we are thrilled to return and enjoy the abundant produce of the early fall! As we gear up for school lunches and welcome our new and returning chefs, we are cooking down and storing some farm donations of tomatoes and corn. We are excited to announce that we will be working with Balsam Farms and Halsey orchards to enrich our school lunches even further with local produce. As always, we enjoy the beautiful harvest season of our two gardens and two greenhouses. We are bringing in basil, tomatoes, various varieties of peppers, lettuces, and much more! It is our favorite season to make flower vases for our lunch room as we are swimming in cosmos, marigolds, eucalyptus, zinnias, and more. Our new groups in the kitchen are finding their footing, including our new youngest groups, who mainly focus on familiarizing themselves with the kitchen and its equipment, safety, and general process of planning and preparing lunch.
