Marybeth and RJ's Class Notes

This week, children in Marybeth and R.J.'s class resumed their study of slavery in various ways.  Some children participated in an interactive, virtual journey on the Underground Railroad, while others resumed their ongoing "History Mystery" project, where they analyze and write about primary source documents. This week they studied the attached placard, found in Boston in 1851, and were invited to consider a series of open ended questions about the document.

Marybeth and R.J. have also been connecting with the children twice a week for a virtual read aloud of the book Hoot, by Carl Hiaasen, which is an "ecological mystery", complete with alligators, snakes, endangered owls, rebellious children, fumbling adults, and coming of age themes of schoolyard bullying. The story is wonderful, but the time together has been priceless!
