Julie and Travis’ Class Notes
This week has been packed with fun and interesting experiences. We had a fantastic time visiting The Bridgehampton Museum’s Corwith Homestead. The students were amazed by the barn where the Wheel Wright would have worked hundreds of years ago to make wheels and other tools for their farm. The old jailhouse was a hit, with some students thinking it might not be too bad to spend the night in there. We got to experience Philippe Cheng’s sound installation inspired by the United States’ 250 anniversary, and our varied history. We ;later discussed how sound is another medium to tell a story.
We wrapped the week up with another of Hayground’s classic Halloween celebrations. Students, teachers and parents went all out this year, and it was a fun way to end a fantastic week.
Next Thursday, our class will be visiting the Shelter Island Senior Center, where we will have a pizza lunch and listen to the Seniors’ stories about meaningful objects from their lives. We can’t wait.
