JULIE and MBACHI'S CLASS NOTES

Our class has been so busy that the days have flown by. We can't believe it is almost Halloween!

The students have begun adorning our classroom with homemade Halloween decorations.

The kids have been enjoying our work to develop, characters, setting and planning for their in-

dependently written stories. We are beginning to think about interviewing people in our community so

that we can start finding stories for our first class publication: Reasons to be Curious.

We are also fully engrossed in our class read aloud of The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane.

Our latest design challenge was an open choice, which means that the children could work with

whoever they want on whatever they decided and with any materials. They have created wonderful

things that reflect who they are and their interests, such as the characters from our read aloud, puppets,

or Japanese temple made of blocks.
