Erin and Kevin's Class Notes

Spring seems to be here for real this time! With the warmer weather will come more time spent outside. Probably an updated/seasonal set of backup clothes will be in order, as well as sunscreen. On particularly sunny days we ask that if your child uses sunscreen, to apply it before school, and then we can reapply it in the afternoon. We intend to take advantage of the weather to do some exploring as spring slowly unfolds. We are beginning to make treasure boxes in which to put small discoveries we find along the way. We are also planning on taking a field trip to a beach soon to look for more treasures, so stay tuned!

Our collage portraits were so much fun, and elicited so much enthusiasm, that we will continue to mine magazines for images to collage. We have begun talking about mythological creatures and figures that are a combination of animal and/or human parts. Today we looked at dragons, mermaids, a gryphon and a sphinx. We intend to create our own mythological figures, so if anyone has any extra Ranger Ricks or other animal magazines you don't mind being cut up, bring them in!

We have a small list of class goals we hope to accomplish before school ends in June. Included in that list are hatching butterflies and planting flower seeds. Lastly, we are very lucky to have Atticus Muth as an apprentice in our class for a few weeks. We have been getting to know one another and so far it has been great!
