TOHANASH'S CLASS NOTES

We are so happy to be back! We ended our first half of the year on a high note with our entire class performing the Gravedigger song for Shakespeare’s, Hamlet. Our class took great pride in learning the song and all the movements. If they were shy, they didn’t look it in the least.

We continue our exploration into meaningful literacy. Reading books that inspire us to think deeper about the alphabet (“Alphabet Rescue” & “Alphabet Mystery” by Audrey and Bruce Wood) and books that help us to talk about our emotions (“Moody Cow Meditates” by Kerry Lee MacLean & “Grumpy Monkey” by Suzanne Lang”).

Before the break, we began a bulb-forcing project. Each child got their own narcissus bulb to observe and chart it’s growth over the two-week break. Please bring your plant back to school on Monday so we can compare growth and replant the bubs in our beautifully decorated pots.

As part of the Parrish Art Museum children’s installation, Sabra Elliott (studio teacher and artist) will help us use the garbage collected at local beaches by students and their families to create a school-wide sea turtle-shaped sculpture.
