Lucy’s Class Notes
February has been a busy and inspiring month as we honor Black History Month and prepare for our upcoming Soul Food Night. Students have been deeply engaged in researching influential Black singers throughout history. While there were many artists to choose from, students identified ten artists who repeatedly emerged in their research. After learning more about these artists, students are now designing an interactive game for Soul Food Night and choreographing a dance inspired by one of the singers.
In addition to exploring music, some students have been inspired by the current Olympics and have chosen to research Black Olympians who represented the United States and made history. These students are curating an original piece of artwork that will be displayed during Soul Food Night, honoring the achievements and legacy of these athletes.
While our Black History Month work has been a major focus over the past two weeks, students continue to imagine their seasonal “worlds” and gather the materials needed to bring their visions to life. We hope everyone enjoys a restful break, and we look forward to welcoming you to Soul Food Night on March 4, 2026.
