Emily and Helene's Class Notes

Welcome back Hayground families! The first two weeks of school have been full of discovery. We have been spending time exploring the campus, getting to know our friends, reading books, making art, and playing outside.

Our class is starting the school year with lunch in the kitchen. This past week was our first “school lunch” and it was a hit! We love trying new things and comparing our favorite part of the meal with our friends.

We’ve been finding all sorts of creeping, crawling, critters on campus including several monarch butterflies that have made Hayground their temporary home. We read about the monarch butterflies’ life cycle and adorned the classroom windows with illustrations of the process. We also learned about their migration and watched a video of butterflies arriving at the end of their journey, in the trees, in Mexico. This week, we will paint our own butterflies to hang on the tree mural in our classroom, just like the monarchs!

Our first full week of school wrapped up with a visit to The Milk Pail apple orchard where we got to pick a bag of delicious apples to take home for the weekend!
