Art Studio Notes

Welcome to a new year in the Art Studio! We have big plans this year!

Inspired by ancient artifacts, folklore, talismans, and self taught Outsider art, we will be exploring sculpting and creating animal forms. Working with a wide range of different materials, such as clay, plaster, cardboard, paper, wire, found objects and more, students will be creating a body of real, mythical, and imagined beasts. Working individually, in pairs and small groups, we will play with scale, juxtaposing small talismans alongside large scale collaborative pieces, to create a variety of individual and grouped sculptures, hanging pieces and totems,

This body of work will celebrate and explore the creative use of materials, raw expression, intuitive hand work, and the connection between people, animals, and material through history and various cultures throughout the world.
