LUCY'S CLASS NOTES

The school year could not have started off any better! We jumped right into the school year with

prioritizing community, experimenting, and exploring a read aloud. Throughout the first three days of

school we did many community building activities such as the compliment circle, this or that, and fun

riddles that required teamwork. We also examined our feet to learn how the shape of our feet impacts

us as athletes, dancers, and humans who need to balance on two feet. We started a wonderful book

that exhibits excellent author moves, which will be helpful when we write our own personal narratives!

Lastly, we launched our year-long Cultural Research Project.

Over the next few weeks, we will be developing our own personal narratives, and exploring how

certain dancers and athletes in history created their own narrative through movement. We will continue

to analyze the science behind movement, such as how movement impacts our heartbeat, and we will

begin to plan our path as a group for the Cultural Research Project. I am excited for the families of our

group to become involved in research as we seek to learn more about each culture that represents our

class community.
